IOTA DINNER ---> The 19th Annual Islands On The Air
(IOTA) Dinner will be
held on Friday, 4 April at the Visalia Marriott
Convention Center, in
conjunction with the 65th International DX
Convention. Details can be found
found at
http://www.dxconvention.org/download/IOTA_Dinner.pdf.
Last chance
to register in 28 March. [TNX N6VR]
NA-172 ---> "K9AJ and myself both now have other
QRL and priorities
necessitating a change in our longstanding plans for
NA-172", Rick K6VVA
reported on 18 March. Their IOTA expedition has been
postponed to July
2015. Their plans "will still require a 2 week extended
lodging on the
mainland to wait out any bad solar condx or X-Flares
which may occur, as
well as Auroral Oval positioning during our journey.
There will be a narrow
window of opportunity between when the local polar
ice actually melts and
the increasing fog problems in Northern KL7 as
summer progresses". Bookmark
http://www.k6vva.com/iota/na172/
for updates.
NORTH KOREA ---> Rick, N6VVA has posted Info Update
#3 to the "P5 CW Only &
IOTA AS-197 Project" [425DXN 1141]. "As behind-the-scenes
efforts for P5
license approval by my NGO contact continue along
with 5 competing groups
in the quest", he says, "I have made a final
decision about implementing a
'Blacklist' should P5/K6VVA become a reality at some
point in time". Read
the complete release at
http://www.k6vva.com/p5/p5infoupdates.html,
and the
"Blacklist Clarification" at
http://www.k6vva.com/dnq2.
QSL 3B9FR ---> HB9SLO is no longer the QSL manager
for 3B9FR. He has the
logs and can still confirm contacts made from 23 October
2012 until 14
March 2014.
QSL UK8OM ---> 4Z5OG is no longer the QSL manager
for UK8OM. Cards should
be sent direct only to UK8OM's mailing address: Mike
Mejlumov, Oina Jahon
2, Namangan 160133, Uzbekistan.
VK9MT ---> The Advance Team arrived in Mackay on
18-19 March, and the other
team members will be arriving over the next few days.
"We're loading the
the boat in small loads rather than hiring a trucking
firm to bring
everything at once", they say. On 21 March they expected
to "test the
generators, assemble antennas that we received directly
from SteppIR and
make final tuning adjustments to the folding hex
beams that we were unable
to do in the US because of the cold and snow".
During the time at sea and during radio operations
there will be no
personal e-mail communications with the Team.
Comment sections on Facebook
and the DXpedition's website will be turned off. The
auto-publish function
of the Guestbook entries will temporarily deactivated.
Comments and/or
suggestions will have to be directed to the Pilots (see
http://vk9mt.com/),
who will not have access to the logs. All log
inquiries should be directed
to the QSL Manager (M0URX) once the operation is QRT.
W1AW WAS ---> Look for ARRL Centennial stations
W1AW/0 from Iowa and W1AW/1
from Vermont to be on the air starting at 00.00 UTC
on 26 March until 23.59
UTC on 1 April. Complete information on the ARRL
Centennial QSO Party can
be found at
www.arrl.org/centennial-qso-party.
+ SILENT KEYS + Charles E. Dewey Jr, W0CD passed
