5th EPC Russia DX Contest 2013
Dear Fellow Radio Amateurs,
The Russian Section of the
European PSK Club has the honour to invite the radio
amateurs all over the world to participate in the
5th EPC Russia
DX Contest 2013. The
objective of the contest is to establish as many
contacts as possible between radio amateurs around
the world and radio amateurs in Russia on
BPSK63
mode. The Contest is annually held at the first
weekend in October in
BPSK63
mode on 160, 80,
40, 20, 15 and 10
meters bands. The
5th EPC Russia DX
Contest will be held
from 04:00 UTC
on 05.10.2013 to 03:59 UTC on 06.10.2013.
Every station can be contacted once per band. The
operator may change the bands without any
restrictions. The output power should not exceed 10
watts on 160 meters and 100 watts on other bands.
Only one transmitted signal is permitted at any
time. This is an excellent opportunity to increase
your BPKS63
count as well as accumulating contacts for other EPC
awards for countries, prefixes, suffixes, etc.

Certificates and
awards will be sent
only in electronic format jpg. Each winner and
prize-winner will be awarded a certificate by the
organizers of the contest but only once for the
highest of all rewarded prizes. Certificates
EPC-RUSSIA-DX 2013 will be awarded to:
- top five
in sub-SOAB, SOLF, SOHF;
- all
participants in the
subgroup of MOAB;
- the first
place on every continent
in the SOAB, SOHF, SOLF;
- top five on
the continent in SOAB,
SOHF, SOLF provided that at least 10 participants in
the subgroup of the continent;
- the first
place in every country by the list of DXCC
award of the subgroups of SOAB, SOLF, SOHF;
- the first
three places in every country
by the list of DXCC award provided that at least 10
participants from the country of the subgroups of
SOAB, SOLF, SOHF;
- top five
in eight federal districts of Russia in the overall
standings of the subgroups of SOAB, SOLF, SOHF;
- the first
place overall in the
subgroups of SOAB, SOLF, SOHF in each region,
province, Republic of Russia regardless of the
number of participants from the region.
- all
participants who will work for the first time
in EPC Russia DX Contest should specify
"My first EPC-RUSSIA-DX"
in SOAPBOX of the report for this purpose (more
than 50 QSOs). At
checking of the given statements ex-callsigns will
be taken into account.
Special
EPC-RUSSIA-DX 2013 awards
will be awarded to all radio amateurs who send
reports (except Checklog and caught in the DQ) and
make at least the following number of QSOs:
- for Europe and Asia -
100 QSO;
- for other continents (except Europe and Asia) -
50 QSO.
The Plaque will
be awarded to the 1000th participant
of the contest among all radiosportsmen (participants)
who sent their reports on condition that Contest
Committee will receive 1000 and more Logs (except
for Checklog and those got in the DQ).

W - The West Chester Amateur Radio Association
will be active as
WC8VOA on 21 September to commerate the
initialization of the
Bethany Voice of America transmission site
(23 September 1944).
Two stations will operate SSB and CW from
16 UTC for eight hours.

HIMALAYAN TRIP ---> Pekka, OH2YY will operate SSB as
9N2YY (requested call,
to be confirmed upon arrival) from Nepal on 2-5 October,
and as A52YY from
Bhutan on 6-10 October. His Nepalese license covers
17, 15, 12 and 10 metres
while his Bhutanese is for all bands. He plans to
have antennas for 40-10m,
with "a better antenna on 21 MHz in order to serve
North American stations
during the short openings that are predicted around
midnight for West Coast
and noon time for East". Operating bands will
also depend on local
conditions, as he will be travelling and visiting
different places in both

IMW 2014 ---> The International Museums Weekend (IMW)
has been a very
popular annual special event for well over a decade

beyond the UK's borders. The 2014 IMW will take

SILENT KEYS ---> Wayne Green, W2NSD passed away on
13 September at 91 years
of age. He was the founder of "73 Amateur Radio Today"
and several other
magazines. "A well-known and often outspoken
figure", he "often was ahead
of the curve in promoting such technologies as
single-sideband phone,
solid-state, FM, and the marriage of computers and
ham radio" (ARRL). The

CIS DX QPSK63 Contest
2013. The objective of
the CIS DX QPSK63 Contest is to establish as many
contacts as possible between radio amateurs around
the world by using only the QPSK63 mode (all HF
bands except WARC bands). Everybody can work
everybody for QSO and multiplier credit. The next
CIS DX QPSK63 Contest will be held from
12:00 UTC on 14.09.2013
to 12:00 UTC until 15.09.2013.
This is an excellent opportunity to increase your
QPKS63 count as well as accumulating contacts for
other EPC awards for countries, prefixes, suffixes,

stations from Botswana on 5-12 September. Look for A25JK to
operate SSB on 20-10 metres (possibly with some 40 and 80m), while
A25CF "will be doing some PSK on what ever bands might be open and

active from Liechtenstein "on the second or third full weekend of
September". Weather permitting, they will try to operate from the
summit of Augstenberg (2359 metres a.s.l.) using CW only on the
higher bands with an emphasis on working Asia. All of the QSOs

KH9 - The tentative dates for the K9W DXpedition to Wake Island are 5-19

SV8 - A team of eight operators from Germany (Rich DK8YY, Hansi DL1AOB,

(EU-052) on 17-29 October, including entries in the Worked All

YB - YB8S is the callsign that YB9BU, YB8RW, YC8TM and others will be
using during their operation from Gangga Island (OC-236) [425DXN
1164]. They will be QRV from 30 August to 1 September. QSL direct

YB - The YE5T (OC-122) and YE5S (OC-109) operations [425DXN 1164] have
been postponed until further notice owing to a serious family
problem of one of the team members. The YE5R activity from Anambas
(OC-108) will likely continue since it is organized by a different

YB - Four more operators will be joining the 10-16 September DXpedition
to Kimaam Island (aka Pulau Yos Sudarso and Pulau Dolok) (OC-275,
new one for IOTA) [425DXN 1164]. The team now includes YB0AI/9,
YB3MM/9, YB8XM/9, YB9WZJ/p, YC9XOZ/p, YD9RQX/p and YF1AR/9. They

YJ - Ralph, H40IOTA was supposed to be active from Vanikolo (OC-163)
for a couple of days towards the end of this week. However, this
activity is not going to happen and "will be placed on hold for a
future trip". His H44/H40 IOTA tour is finished, and Ralph is now
heading "under motorsail and poor weather conditions" to Vanuatu.
He will be sailing those waters for a couple of months, with
tentative plans to be active as YJ0RK from the Torres Islands

YN - EA1ACP, EA1DVY, EA5FX, EA5HPX, EA5KM and EA7FTR will be active as
