EA     - EH100AG is the special callsign for members of  URE Baix Camp,  URE
         Tarragones and  Radio Club EA3RCY  to commemorate  the centenary of
         the passing of Antoni Gaudi,  the famous Catalan architect  and de-
         signer whose main and widely known work is the  Sagrada Familia  in
         Barcelona. Look  for  activity to take place  between 11 May  and 7

JA     - Owing to bad weather conditions, the  JI3DST/6 and JA4GXS/6  opera-
         tion from the  Danjo Islands (AS-056) [425DXN 1826]  has been post-
         poned to 22-23 May,  between 08:00 UTC on Friday  and 22:00 UTC  on
         Saturday. They plan to operate SSB, CW, FT8 and FT4 running battery
         power on 40, 30, 20, 17 and 6 metres.
LY     - LY100RADIO is the  special callsign celebrating the  100th anniver-
         sary since  the  official beginning of  regular radio  broadcasting
         service in Lithuania (12 June 1926).  Look for activity from 12 May

SV     - Mike, DF8AN  will be active  as  SV8/DF8AN from  IOTA group  EU-072

UA     - Commemorating the 121st anniversary  since the birth of  Mikhail A.
         Sholokhov  (the 1965 Nobel Prize in Literature),  special callsigns

         tion of the Sholokhov Spring Festival. A certificate will be avail-

V4     - Markus, WW6W will be active holiday style as V4/WW6W from St. Kitts
         (NA-104) from 24 May to 1 June.  He will operate mainly CW and  FT8

V5     - Eric, N7XOB will be active as V5/N7XOB  while visiting Namibia from
         20 May to 19 June.  He will operate SSB on +/- 7165  and  14265 kHz

VE     - Kris, KM2KM plans to be active as KM2KM/VY0  from Iqaluit on Baffin
         Island (NA-047) between 26 May and 3 June. He expects to operate CW

         after dinner - say 6-8 AM and 7 to 9 PM local time".
VU4    - Team VU4R will be active from  Port Blair (AS-001), Andaman Islands
         on 22-26 July.  They will operate SSB and FT8, and will participate
         in the IOTA Contest.  This will be a preparatory trip and operation
         in anticipation  of the main event,  which will take place on 17-30
         December alongside the 49th SEANET Convention. More information and

XU     - The  XU7AMO team at the  National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia
         has launched regular weekly operations on both HF bands and the QO-
         100 satellite. To optimize their airtime, the team plans to balance

         every Wednesday at 05:00 UTC on 15 metres SSB,  and every Friday at

WTISD ---> Proclaimed in 2006 by the  ITU Plenipotentiary Conference,  World
Telecommunication and Information Society Day  is celebrated annually on  17
May.  WTISD marks the founding of the  International Telecommunication Union

tion gap,  promote digital inclusion,  and spur action to close  the digital

After considering several holiday destinations this year—including Cyprus (5B), Portugal (CT), and Cape Verde (D4)—I finally decided on the latter.

After analyzing different accommodation options, I chose a penthouse in Praia, the capital of Santiago Island. The location offers excellent conditions for installing antennas, provided I have the owner’s approval.

With the destination confirmed, the next step was obtaining the license. After contacting the Cape Verde telecommunications regulator (ARME) and thanks to the invaluable help of my friend PierPaolo (D44PM), I was officially granted the callsign D44EC on May 15th.

The activity will take place between June 17th an 24th, will be from Praia (locator HK84), although if the opportunity arises during my stay, I will try to travel to Fogo Island to activate locators HK75 and HK74.

I hope propagation is good and that I can hear you all on the bands.

The journey began on the morning of Saturday, May 16th, departing from Puerto Varas bound for Santiago (capital city). Here, I had the opportunity to enjoy a pleasant dinner and an excellent conversation with two good friends: Manu, CE3YMR, and Moisés, CE3VTZ.

If weather conditions allow, it is possible that I may arrive at Robinson Crusoe Island earlier than expected. Nevertheless, the first RF transmission remains scheduled for the afternoon / evening of May 19th CE time. This is because I still need to transport all the equipment already on the island to the final location where the antennas will be installed. There is still a great deal of work ahead, but everything is progressing according to plan.

After a long period of logistical planning, I finally decided to activate Titumate Island, IOTA SA-093, one of the most wanted island groups in South America. What initially looked like a simple expedition quickly turned into months of preparation, countless e-mails exchanged with local boat owners, fishermen, and contacts from the region, all necessary to make this operation possible.

The journey began on May 9th, departing from Belém, Pará — the famous “PY8 land” in northern Brazil. From Belém, I took a 3 hour and 50 minute flight to Bogotá, capital of Colombia (HK). From Bogotá, another domestic flight brought me to Montería. The original plan was to continue by road toward Turbo, but earlier this year, in February, severe flooding heavily damaged the road between Montería and Turbo, including several bridges that remain compromised.

Because of that situation, I decided to take a small regional flight to Apartadó. I arrived there at the beginning of the evening and immediately continued by taxi to the port city of Turbo. After a short night of rest, I woke up early and headed to the port at 07:00 AM local time. The boat crew was already waiting for me.

At exactly 08:00 AM local time (Colombia UTC -5), we departed Turbo toward the islands. After nearly two hours navigating through the Gulf of Urabá, we finally reached Titumate.

The boat ride itself was somewhat tense. During this season, the Gulf is full of floating tree trunks and debris carried by the Atrato River estuary. The Atrato flows into the Gulf through seven delta mouths, constantly depositing logs and sediments into the water. Navigation requires extreme attention from the pilots.

The Titumate Islands are a very small archipelago composed of three tiny islands — two with similar dimensions and a third one that is basically just a rock. On the northeastern side of the largest island, there is a small beach where the boat captain recommended setting up camp.

Since this was a completely solo operation, every detail had to be carefully optimized for portability and efficiency. I first assembled the camping tent while carefully observing the maximum high tide line. Then I positioned the foldable solar panels and moved on to the antenna installation.

For my DXpeditions, I have been using the DX Commander Expedition antenna system. It is an incredibly compact pole antenna that collapses down to just over 70 cm, allowing it to fit easily into a standard travel suitcase. Fully extended, the pole reaches nearly 10 meters in height. For this expedition, I configured the antenna for 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, and 40 meters.

I officially started operations at 16:20 UTC. The first QSO was with my friend Beto, PT7YV, from Fortaleza, Brazil, on the 15 meter band.

The operation unfolded almost exactly as planned. During daytime operation, I used full power output of 100 watts, since the 400 watt foldable solar panel system provided more than enough energy. Excess energy was stored in the station battery bank for overnight use.

[REFRESH] – Fer, M0HXC (also ZB2KX) announces that he will be active from Ascension Island as ZD8KX during May 25-29, 2026. QRV using an IC-705 and EFHW antenna (66ft / 20m). This will be a low power activity on CW, SSB & FT8/4/2. QSL via LoTW. More info here.

It will be too costly to make 500+ QSL cards and only a couple will be used for confirmation.  If possible, I will buy a number of Ascension Island postcards to be used for QSL confirmation. Please send QSL’s with a SAE and a donation of at least $5 or more to send a confirmation QSL back.  All extra donations will be used to purchase a RF PA.
