3G1P ---> Following a difficult landing, the 3G1P team began operations from
the top of the large Pajaros rock at around 22 UTC on 18 August. They had to
operate under the open sky, as they could not put up a tent. They started on
20m CW in the late afternoon and continued until 7 UTC, at which point they
decided to rest.
The following day, they began on 20m CW and then switched to 15m SSB. As the
day progressed, the ocean swells increased and the generator was hit by a
lot of water spray, forcing them to stop operations temporarily. However, by
the end of the day, they had found a suitable spot for the generator,
enabling them to operate on 20m SSB all night.
Then they were informed that the sea conditions would worsen, prompting the
local helpers to assess their safety. On the morning of 21 August, they went
QRT and began preparations for evacuation. They had to swim to the boat
through high waves, and eventually reached the mainland around 17:30 UTC.
Most of their equipment remained on the rock, packed for later retrieval.

"This project was without a question a very difficult one, which included a
number of risks that we were able to manage, a true adventure in every sense
of this word", Cezar, VE3LYC says. "Its full story, with its details, and
all the incredible twists and turns, will be certainly written and published
in due course. For the time being we are delighted to have been able to do
it, we are sincerely grateful to the fishermen for their incredible dedica-
tion and help".
+ SILENT KEY + Lou Dietrich, N2TU passed away on 15 August, aged 78. First
licensed in the early Sixties and re-licensed in 1981, he was an avid DXer,
who needed one more on RTTY (BS7) and one more on CW (P5) to have worked
them all. Notable DXpeditions he participated in as team leader/team member
include NH8S (Swains Island 2012), K9W (Wake Island 2013), K1N (Navassa
2015), K5P (Palmyra 2016), CY0S (Sable Island 2023), and CY9C (St. Paul
Island 2024). "Lou was more than just a leader in the amateur radio communi-
ty - he was a pillar of DXing, a dedicated supporter of international good-
will through radio, and a passionate advocate for the mission of the Inter-
national DX Association (INDEXA)", Otis Vicens, NP4G says. "As Past Chairman
of the Board, Lou played a critical role in guiding INDEXA through years of
growth and meaningful impact".
